Lori’s Current Routines

MY MORNING ROUTINE:

CLEANSING:

If I haven’t used a heavy occlusive the night before and I don’t need to put on foundation, then I’ll opt to just rinse my face with water or swipe with my essence or toner.

However, if I need to remove a heavy sleeping pack or occlusive I used the night before; I’ll use a combo of the following.

First cleanse for me is always an oil or balm cleanse from the following.

– Cremorlab Oil Cleansing Gel (My #1 fav but $$$.)

TONYMOLY Clean Dew Apple Mint Cleansing Oil (Don’t side eye me, I love this stuff. It works, it’s cheap and smells like candy.)

– Clinique Take the Day Off Balm (I love this, it’s some $$$ but it leaves my skin sooooo soft. Hate the jar packaging, though.)

Second Cleanse for me is accompanied by my silicone sonic cleansing device.

– Makeup Artist’s Choice Wild Oat & Honey Cleanser (Affordable, no SLS, and a creamy low foam, this is my go to “foaming cleanser”.

– CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser ( I always finish off with this cleanser, even if I use the MUAC Oat and Honey. So this is potentially a second or third cleanse, but I need the hydration and the ceramides and never cleanse without it.)

TONERS AND ESSENCE:

– Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner (I always start with this, Holy Grail status in my book.)

– Cremorlab Ten Water Essense (I’m testing this right now and not convinced it’s doing much of anything at the moment. I felt the same about Missha’s FTE Intensive.)

– Kikumasamune High Moist (If I’m extra dry or I’ve effed up with actives I always default to this. If could bath in this I would. I put it on my face to be sure, but I also drench a folded paper towel and rub this all over my body right after I shower.)

– COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (I’m testing this right now with great trepidation and anxiety in my soul. Mizon Snail Ampoule and their AIO gave me teeny whiteheads. I was very sad.)

ACTIVES/EXFOLIATORS:

– Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum (This stuff is $$$$$ but it flat out works for me and my hyperpigmentation. It may be labeled as a “serum”, but I list this as an active because of its low pH factor and also Vitamin C/Enzyme nature. Also, this smells like a cozy winter fire.)

– Paula’s Choice 2% Liquid BHA (My go to exfoliator if I’m out of the Drunk Elephant.)

Iope Moisture Skin Soft Peeling Gel (As someone who has dry flaky skin, sometimes I just need a good scrub, but I’m sensitive too. So I can’t. That’ why I’m SO excited to test this, especially in the morning before foundation. Just came in and added to the routine. Review to come.)

HYDRATORS:

– Hada Labo Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist (Always my first go to of my hydration layers, never without it.)

– Hada Labo Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Milk (Layer #2 of my hyaluronic hydrator stash.)

– Josie Maran Argan Milk (The last part of my hydration steps, this can really be considered many things. Is it an oil? Is it a serum? It’s both really, and magic in a bottle for my dry skin.)

SERUMS:

– LeeJiHam LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence (Because I have dry skin I don’t just smear this all over my face. This goes mostly along my jawline and anywhere on my cheeks when my hormones decide to be the assholes they are, and cause breakouts or flushing. Cooling, glorious and inflammation reducing goodness, I always have this on hand. P.S. This is called an essence but I treat it as a serum in my lineup.)

MOISTURIZER:

– Paula’s Choice Skin Recover Moisturizer (When I’ve messed up by over-exfoliating or some other stupid thing I’ve done, I always revert to this. A nice antioxidant and emollient packed moisturizer with no fragrance.)

– Josie Maran Argan Oil Face Butter (New to my routines this moisturizer is truly like buttah. I blew through a deluxe sample size and rushed out to buy the full size without hesitation. Review to come.)

FACIAL OIL:

– Josie Maran Argan Oil (A nice basic oil I use before my foundation if I’m going to be brave and go for a satin finish vs my normal dewy.)

– Paula’s Choice RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster (I have this on hand as well but don’t reach for it as much as my Josie Maran. It’s a beautiful blend of oils with a kick of antioxidants but I find it doesn’t absorb as quickly as the argan oil, and in the morning time is of the essence.)

SUNSCREEN:

– Hada-Labo UV Creamy Gel SPF 50+++ (Holy Grail! I only ever use this as it leaves my skin smooth and soft and never gives off a white cast or pills on top of my oils or moisturizers.)

SKIN FINISHERS/PRIMERS:

– Sulwhasoo Luminature Essential Finisher (I’m testing this right now with my different combinations of foundations. Review to come.)

MY NIGHT ROUTINE:

CLEANSING:

At night to remove sunscreen and/or makeup I’ll use a combo of the following.

– Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner ( I always start with this, Holy Grail status in my book.)

– Paula’s Choice 2% Liquid BHA (My go to exfoliator for nighttime, I almost always use this every day.)

– Neogen Dermatology Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Wine (This is one of those things that Reddit’s Asian Beauty sub had me running off to buy. I’m skeptical, but adding it to the routine 1-2 nights a week in place of my 2% BHA. Let’s see what it does. Review to come.)

SERUMS:

– Holysnail’s Shark Sauce ( A hyperpigmentation and barrier repair must have in any nighttime arsenal.)

– Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Serum with Retinol ( I use the term retinol loosely here, it’s almost non-existent. Despite that I love this stuff and I’m on my seventh repurchase of it. It’s gloriously smooth and buttery and sinks into my skin like nothing else does.)

– Missha’s Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Borabit Ampoule (Good GOD, if I wanted to rec this to someone I don’t know if I’d even remember half of that name. As it is, I’m testing this right now, again, I keep losing interest in it. This is my 3rd time trying to finish off the bottle and it doesn’t look like I’ll be recommending it anytime soon.)

You may be wondering why I have hydrators after serums. Lori, don’t you know this breaks the thin to thick rule? What are you doing? But I find that my choice of hydrators, specifically, work better after my serums. Also, I want my shark sauce and serums to go on skin that is as clean as possible. Hence my breaking of this “rule”.

SHEET MASKS

– My Beauty Diary Squalene and Hyaluronic Masks (These are my typical grabs for nighttime mask chillaxin and relaxin, but I have many many others. Since my mask stash is currently at over 80 masks, I won’t go into a ton of detail here. You can do a quick search on the blog for specific reviews on different brands I love and loath as I get them up. Hint: Naruko Snail Essence Intense Hydra Repair Mask is currently in the loath section. Pretty sure I’m still finding snail slime in my hair. I have 10 of these suckers though, so I’ll give it another go before I write up the review.)

SLEEPING PACKS:

– Sulwhasoo Vitalizing Mask (My go to sleeping pack this is the one I always crawl back to after trying something else. I’m so sorry! I won’t do it again!) *Sulwhasoo whispers: liesssss*

– Aquaphor (If I’ve been REALLY bad with my actives or some other nonsense this goes on. I hate it. It feels disgusting and makes my skin itch cause it moves round and doesn’t absorb, but it’s the price I pay for being an idiot.)

– COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Mask (Testing this one right now, review to come.)

– MANYO FACTORY Aqua Moisture Sleeping Cream Pack (I just got this one for testing and it’s so lightweight I’m already having my doubts.)
