Cerave Skin Renewing Gel Oil Review

Cerave Skin Renewing Gel Oil Review

I’ve been meaning to write a Cerave Skin Renewing Gel Oil review for a few months now, but my mind is like a sieve sometimes a lot of the time. ADHD: the gift that keeps on giving.

Luckily I came across the main pic on my phone and immediately jumped on to Instagram to do a quick review. I figured I should probably blog about it when that quick review turned into 5 paragraphs and counting.

Wet n Wild Mega Cushion Highlight Illuminator Review

When I saw these tiny adorable Wet N Wild cushions I fell for the cute instantly. These newish (I’ve had and played with this for about a month) products come in several types: highlighting, contouring and four color correcting options. Not being a contour person on the daily, or a color correcting one, I grabbed the highlighter and ran off to the counter to purchase with my other goodies at the tune of $5.99.

First (And Last) Impressions of the Pantene Pro-V Gold Series

I recently saw a few write ups on this Pantene Pro-V Gold Series hair care in some well known fashion magazines and completely fell for the hype hook, line and sinker. The story behind this it is that 10 Black scientists, 40+ hairstylists and a world renowned dermatologist came up with this line specifically for African American hair types. The Gold Series was supposedly tested in Brazil, the U.S., Nigeria and Kenya on over 3000 Black women, and they had over 100 women try it out during their development process. That’s a lot of Black folks! As you can imagine, I was super excited to try some of these newfangled products that were made for people with hair just like mine. Hey, if Essence magazine says it’s ok, then it’s got to be, right? Right??

Acid Wars: Hada Labo Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion

Today Lori and I are excited to debut a new and ongoing feature at For The Love of Acid called “Acid Wars”. This feature is a riff on why we were inspired to start this blog, when we would sit and discuss the merits and faults of every beauty item that we came across. In Acid Wars, we’ll be debating over a skincare or makeup item that we’ve both tried, as it relates to our differing skin types. Erika = Combo to Oily / Lori = Dry to Dry AF

Today it’s the Hada Labo Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (“The Premium” for short) and we definitely have some warring views about it. I (Erika), was first introduced to it last year as the Asian Beauty Reddit started raving about it left and right. So, of course, I immediately coveted it. A friend of mine happened to be going to Japan for vacation so I had him bring back a bottle of the Premium as well as a refill for me. I was so sure I’d love it!  I figured I would send Lori a decant or two to see if she’d like it, and then she could have the refill. (Nawwww, always thinking of me! – Lori)

Well, I didn’t love it. So I packed it up and sent it to Lori. Cue this discussion:

Becca Ever-Matte Review: A Primer Love Story

I love this primer so much that I have two of them.

If you, like me, are of the oily skinned persuasion and enjoy wearing makeup, you’ve probably been looking for the perfect under foundation primer for ages.  I’m betting us oily folks have all had the same experiences with each pricey or not so pricey primer we’ve bought, tried and maybe even returned. They all seem nice at first but that’s just a clever facade.  A few hours of wear later you happen to glance in a mirror, only to let out a horrified gasp at the astonishing vision in front of you.  Your face, which had started the day looking smooth and refined, now looked like someone could fry an egg on your forehead and nose.  Not only were you extra greasy, but your makeup had separated or cracked and was completely gone in some spots.  How does that even happen when you’ve not touched it? It’s as if the makeup just evaporated into thin air. *thinking emoji*

Thankfully I’ve found something that works for me, and hopefully for you too.  It’s a primer by Becca called the Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, and it is hands down the best primer I’ve ever tried for my oily, acne prone skin type.  Read on for the ingredients, application tips and more.

Lori’s 2017 Skincare Goals: Barrier & Glow

It’s 2017. I don’t know how to even begin processing that, and I probably shouldn’t even try since the end result could only be feelings of age and supreme guilt in not trying harder to be healthier. You know, eat better, more exercise, blah, blah, blah.

Tis’ the time for resolutions, though, and besides the ever present eat better and more exercise, I have a few goals in mind that pertain directly to my skin.

CeraVe Makeup Removing Cleanser Cloths Review

Anyone who knows me personally and has admitted to me that they use makeup remover wipes has probably been the recipient of me climbing on my aesthetician soap box. I’m sorry. Because I’m sure what quickly followed was me giving you all of the unsolicited advice on how horrible they are and how you should not be using them.

I’m pretty snotty about it actually, but it’s only because I care! I know that most people use these at the end of the day when they’re super tired, and then they don’t rinse off the residue or go any further in their cleansing/moisture routine.

Guys, that hurts me. It hurts my soul deeply.
